BCCI Review Meeting Following The Defeat In Australia Today, See What Major Decisions Are To Be Taken News24 –

According to The Times Of India, The BCCI has scheduled a comprehensive review meeting today at 5 PM at the Wankhede Stadium headquarters to analyze India’s recent 1-3 loss in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy series in Australia. Key attendees expected at this crucial meeting include Indian captain Rohit Sharma, head coach Gautam Gambhir, and chief selector Ajit Agarkar, who will convene with BCCI’s top brass – president Roger Binny, joint secretary Devajit Saikia, and vice-president Rajiv Shukla.

Despite India’s impressive standing as current T20 World Cup champions and 2023 ODI World Cup finalists, their Test cricket performance has seen a concerning decline. The team’s recent struggles include a 0-3 home series loss to New Zealand, followed by the disappointing Australian tour outcome.

Several critical issues are likely to be addressed during the review, including the underperformance of senior players, with particular focus on captain Rohit Sharma’s withdrawal from the Sydney Test and Virat Kohli’s extended form slump. The meeting may also discuss reports of discontent among senior players during the tour and examine Ravichandran Ashwin’s unexpected mid-series retirement announcement and subsequent departure.

The timing of this review coincides with significant administrative changes within the BCCI. A Special General Meeting is scheduled for Sunday at noon, where Devajit Saikia will formally assume the role of BCCI secretary, and Prabhtej Singh Bhatia will be appointed as the new treasurer. Notably, Agarkar, who was present throughout the BGT series as the touring selector, will provide firsthand insights into the team’s performance in Australia.
