Cristiano Ronaldo & Lionel Messi Were Set To Play Together For This Club — So Why Didn’t It Happen? News24 –
Portugal’s Cristiano Ronaldo and Argentina’s Lionel Messi, among the world’s greatest football players, have a fan following all over the world. Fans have always wanted to see Ronaldo and Messi playing together, but it has not happened yet. However, there was a time when both could be seen playing for the same club. But things did not happen. This shocking revelation has been made by none other than Ronaldo himself. So let’s know why Ronaldo and Messi could not come together.
Ronaldo and Messi could have played in the same team
Cristiano Ronaldo has recently made a shocking revelation about his career. Ronaldo has revealed that he had an offer from Spain’s giant club Barcelona and he was about to join the club. Ronaldo said in an interview with journalist Edu Aguirre on El Chiringuito de Jugones that Barcelona’s talent scout team had tried to sign him.
He said, “When I was at Sporting Lisbon, I had offers from many clubs, including Barcelona. I was talking to a Barcelona official and they wanted to sign me.”
Then why did it not work out?
Ronaldo almost joined Barcelona club in 2003 and Messi made his debut in Barcelona in 2004, so they could have almost played in the same team. But they decided to choose English Premier League team Manchester United. This decision proved to be a game-changer for their careers.
Ronaldo said, “Things change very fast in football. Barcelona wanted to sign me not that year but the next year, but in the meantime Manchester United contacted me and they signed me immediately.” If this had not happened, perhaps we would have seen the two best footballers in the world playing together.
Ronaldo’s amazing career
Ronaldo later moved to Spain, but instead of Barcelona, he joined its rival club Real Madrid. He made many records while playing for this club from 2009 to 2018. Before this, he was a part of Manchester United from 2003 to 2009. With Real Madrid, he won La Liga twice and the Champions League four times.
He also became the club’s all-time top scorer, scoring 451 goals in 438 matches. In 2018, he moved to Juventus and then returned to Manchester United, but left the club amid controversy. Ronaldo is currently part of Saudi Arabian club Al Nasr, while Messi plays for Major League Soccer club Inter Miami.
