New Zealand batter Rachin Ravindra suffered a serious injury in tri-series ODI against Pakistan at the Gaddafi Stadium. He suffered laceration to his forehead “but he is well”.

What Happened On-Field?

Rachin Ravindra was fielding at deep square leg and in the 37th over he tried to take a catch as Khushdil Shah hit a shot, Rachin Ravindra seemed to have been blinded by the lights and the ball struck his forehead. He was seen staring the ground on his knees and blood was flowing through his face. The medical team rushed to the field after seeing Ravindra get badly hurt.

Rachin Ravindra Soaked In Blood Sustains Serious Injury

The crowd went absolutely silent as Rachin Ravindra got injured and stretcher was brought in even though it wasn’t required afterwards.

He got treatment while lying down on the ground after which he got up with help of medical staff and walked off the field with a towel on his face.

NZC Issues Update About Rachin Ravindra’s Injury

“Ravindra was forced from the field after being struck in the forehead by the ball attempting a catch in the 38th over,” a New Zealand Cricket statement said.

“He sustained a laceration to the forehead which has been addressed and treated at the ground, but is otherwise well. He came through his first HIA (Head Injury Assessment) well and will continue to be monitored under HIA processes.”
