Nehal Wadhera Reveals About His Maiden Half-Century On THIS Special Ground! News24 –

IPL 2025: As Punjab Kings (PBKS) prepare to take on Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in their next IPL 2025 match, left-hand batter Nehal Wadhera spared a minute looking back at one of the highlights of his early career — his first-ever IPL fifty against the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in 2023.

In an interview with JioHotstar, Wadhera remembered that tense moment when he played during that match at the M. A. Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. The Mumbai Indians were in trouble at 15/3 when he walked in and proceeded to and proceeded to score a hard-fought 64 from 51 balls , taking his team to a fighting total of 160.

“Special for me was that knock. We were in a precarious position at 15 for 3, and getting the team to about 160 was a big moment,” Wadhera added. “Had I got out early, we would not have been able to reach that score. My childhood training helped me remain calm in the situation. That innings is one of the closest to my heart.”

Wadhera’s IPL So Far

Wadhera had made his IPL debut in 2023, turning out for Mumbai Indians against Royal Challengers Bengaluru. Now, in IPL 2025, the 24-year-old is playing for Punjab Kings, who have begun their campaign strongly with three victories in four games, currently sitting fourth on the points table.

The young batsman also had great words for the leadership climate at PBKS, both captain Shreyas Iyer and head coach Ricky Ponting earning praise for their support.

“Shreyas’ ability to gel with the team so quickly was something that impressed me immensely. The confidence he exudes is contagious,” Wadhera revealed. “He and Ricky Ponting were a fantastic combination at DC, and you can witness the same zest here. To work with Ponting is a blessing in disguise. His presence is so upbeat that evem his criticism inspires you”.

Punjab Kings will then play Sunrisers Hyderabad on Saturday at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad, seeking to continue their impressive early-season form.
