Royal Challengers Bengaluru engaged Delhi Capitals at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi for the match. The outstanding bowling display by Bhuvneshwar Kumar forced Delhi Capitals to score only 162 runs with eight wickets lost. Royal Challengers Bengaluru pursued the target run score of 163 with their batting lineup losing four wickets in only 18.3 overs. With an incredible five-ball innings, Tim David achieved 19 runs without getting out to secure a win for his team. The Delhi captain, Axar Patel, issued a major declaration following this setback.
Axar Patel said this after the match
Axar Patel said after the match, “I think we ended up 10-15 runs short. Batting in the first innings was a bit difficult on this pitch, but in the second innings, the dew made batting easier. We dropped a few catches that we should have taken. Our intent was right, but the wicket was a bit unpredictable.”
He further added,
“After the dew set in, batting became easier, and we don’t think there was much else we could have done differently. We kept losing wickets at regular intervals. If a batsman had stayed at the crease longer, we could have scored 10-15 runs more (Regarding sending himself lower down the batting order) KL was in good form, so I sent him at number 4. Also, one side of the ground was smaller, so that decision was made accordingly.”
