Lucknow Super Giants faced their most humiliating loss when Mumbai Indians defeated them by 54 runs at Wankhede Stadium during the IPL 2025 match. The Hardik Pandya-led Mumbai Indians required Lucknow Super Giants to pursue 216 runs in their allotted 20 overs yet LSG scored only 161 runs, losing all their wickets before the completion of the overs. LSG faces a difficult situation because their two losses against the Mumbai Indians in IPL 2025 have endangered their possibility of reaching the playoffs.
LSG maintains sixth position through their 10 points acquired from ten games. At least three victories among their four remaining League matches must occur for Lucknow Super Giants to remain in contention for top-four finish which guarantees playoff qualification. With three upcoming victories, LSG will amass 16 points which might be sufficient to complete the league stage and qualify for the top four.
A winning record of all four upcoming matches would give LSG 18 points which would create favorable conditions to qualify as the second-best team in the standings for the first qualifier at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad. The team from Lucknow will stop at 14 points from future matches if they win only twice thus making their advancement to the playoffs this season doubtful.
LSG’s upcoming matches
Lucknow Super Giants will face Punjab Kings in their 11th league match of IPL 2025 on Sunday (May 4). The game between the two mid-table teams is scheduled to take place at Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium in Dharamsala. LSG then will host Royal Challengers Bengaluru at Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow on May 9. LSG’s 13th league match is against Gujarat Titans at Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium on May 14, and in their last league match, the Rishabh Pant-led side will face Sunrisers Hyderabad at Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow on May 18.
