All-rounder Nat Sciver-Brunt secured the captaincy of the women’s team according to the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) on Tuesday. The appointment of Nat Sciver-Brunt as team captain succeeded Heather Knight who decided to step down after England suffered a complete Ashes loss throughout their matches. The present lead of England teams across T20s and both Tests and One-Day Internationals format is Nat Sciver-Brunt. The England national team has used the 32-year-old player since her first appearance in 2013.

Sciver-Brunt secured ICC Women’s Cricketer of the Year during both 2022 and 2023. She received the honor of PCA Women’s Player of the Year twice in 2017 along with 2022. She received selection for ICC Women’s ODI as well as T20 Teams of the Year during 2023. At present she maintains her position as the third highest ranked batter in ODI cricket according to ICC standards. The role of captain followed three years during which Sciver-Brunt served as Heather Knight’s support.

Sciver-Brunt played 259 matches while representing England across all formats since joining the squad which won the 2017 World Cup. Through her career Sciver-Brunt has achieved averages of 46.47 in Tests and 45.91 in ODIs with 28.45 in T20Is. International cricket has brought her 182 wickets alongside her playing career. During the 2025 Women’s Premier League in India, Sciver-Brunt, who played for Mumbai Indians, achieved 523 runs, which established her as the first player to surpass 500 runs during a single season.
