Virat Kohli shocked everyone and announced his sudden retirement from Test cricket on Monday. The legendary batter announced about his retirement through a post on his Instagram handle just ahead of the five match-series against England. There are a lot of speculations about his retirement and what made him take such a big step while some fans have also asked him to reconsider the decision.

Virat Kohli’s childhood coach Rajkumar Sharma also came in support and hinted that it was Virat’s personal decision to retire from Tests.

Speaking to Sports Tak, he said, “This retirement will be remembered for a very long time because when the whole country wants you to play and you are taking retirement. Kohli also set an example because you don’t see these retirements often in Indian Cricket; it’s often seen that senior players are being removed.”

“But Virat has an example that this is the time or for whatever reason, he has thought. I appreciate his decision and feel proud of his contribution to Indian cricket. The passion he has for the country is unparalleled,” he added.

At young age Virat expressed his dream to hit 10,000 Test runs, but this will now always remain unfulfilled as he retired just 770 runs before reaching that milestone. He ended his Test career with 9,230 runs in 123 matches and an average below than 50 in the last 5 years. Team India will be playing five match Test series against England starting from June 20 while India A team will play three 4-day practice matches starting from June 1.
