In Pursuit Of IPL, BCCI Suspends Other Cricket Leagues

With the return of the IPL 2025 with a revised schedule, the postponement of other leagues is on the cards. The revelation of a few players who have also been entangled in the scandal as a result of the suspension of the Indian Premier League has led to the T20 Mumbai League (T20M) and the Maharashtra Premier League (MPL) to also be postponed for a week. T20 Mumbai – post successive events of 2018 and 2019 – was scheduled for a comeback from May 27 till June 8 at the Wankhede Stadium after hosting a gala-opening ceremony a day before. The Maharashtra Cricket Association stadium, located at the outskirts of Pune, was supposed to host the MPL from May 31 to June 15.

T20 Mumbai League & MPL

The one-week suspension of the Indian Premier League has seen the T20 Mumbai League (T20M) and the Maharashtra Premier League (MPL) being pushed by a week. The stadium of the Maharashtra Cricket Association outside Pune was supposed to host the MPL between May 31 and June 15. However, with the IPL, which resumes on May 17 and the final to be held on June 3, none of the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) nor the Maharashtra Cricket Association (MhCA) can start their respective leagues until the IPL is over.

Bengal Pro T20 League

The Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) has made up its mind to delay the beginning of the Bengal Pro T20 League Season due to the increasing tensions between India and its arch-rival Pakistan. The women’s tournament was to start on May 16 and go up to June 4, with the men’s tournament scheduled to take place from June 4 to June 21. The CAB made public that it would be issuing the updated schedule for the review of the situation with the coordination of relevant authorities and stakeholders and any advice by the BCCI.
