Watch Pics: Rohit Sharma Immortalised At Wankhede Stadium

One of Indian cricket’s modern greats, Rohit Sharma was recently honoured by the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) in a special way – a stand at the iconic Wankhede Stadium has been named after him. As a symbolic gesture, Rohit was presented with the first-ever ticket to the “Rohit Sharma Stand” as a keepsake.

MCA Honoured “Hitman”

The MCA hosted a ceremony on May 16 at the Wankhede to unveil the newly dedicated stand. Rohit was joined on stage by his parents and wife, Ritika, for the momentous occasion, while his Mumbai Indians teammates looked on from the audience in support.

Receives A Meaning Full Gift

In addition to the stand being named in his honour, Rohit received another meaningful gift – the very first pass to his own stand. This ticket, bearing the number 162279, is valid for the upcoming IPL 2025 clash between Mumbai Indians and Delhi Capitals on May 21.

This recognition marks a significant milestone in Rohit’s journey – from once struggling to gain entry into Wankhede to now having a section of the stadium carry his name. It’s a powerful reminder of how far he has come and an inspiration for aspiring cricketers.

Rohit Expressed Gratitude

Speaking at the event, Rohit shared his gratitude, admitting he had never imagined receiving such an honour. He described Wankhede as a deeply meaningful place filled with cherished memories.

With this tribute, Rohit joins an elite group of cricketing icons who have stands named after them at Wankhede – including legends like Sachin Tendulkar, Sunil Gavaskar, and Dilip Vengsarkar. The “Rohit Sharma Stand” stands as a testament to his enduring impact on Indian cricket and his lasting legacy in Mumbai’s rich cricketing heritage.
