Since the match between KKR and RCB was washed out and KKR was knocked out of the playoff contention, the former Australia cricketer Aaron Finch said Kolkata Knight Riders have no one to blame but themselves. While Kolkata needed to win every remaining game, Saturday’s match was most crucial, as only two victories would allow them to reach 15 points and would also depend on better outcomes for them in the remaining games.
Aaron Finch’s Statement On KKR
“It didn’t start well for them. Andre Russell, being the match-winner that he is and has been for such a long time, was batting too far down the order for much of the tournament. He simply wasn’t given the opportunities to influence games the way he can. They’ve only got themselves to blame,” Finch said on JioHotstar.
“They almost kicked themselves after that last game against CSK – it was theirs to win. The match was almost wrapped up, and they still couldn’t cross the line, which turned out to be an incredible win for Chennai. Throughout the season, there were too many moments where KKR just didn’t click,” Finch added.
KKR’s Performance In IPL 2025
The Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) have had a fluctuating performance in the IPL 2025 season, playing 13 matches to date, from which they attend 5 victories and suffered defeat in 6, accumulating 12 points overall. Since their net run rate is 0.193, they can still compete for the playoffs if other outcomes go their way. They have won two out of their past three games, lost another and their last two matches ended in no result. With the league almost done, KKR wanted to play well and improve their chances of qualifying but due to their last match against RCB being washed out they have become the fourth team to be eliminated from the playoff qualifiers.
