In a major development, the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 final is likely to be hosted at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on June 3. The move came after a series of high-level meetings organized by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Tuesday, May 20.
Originally set for May 25, the end match had to be rescheduled owing to a week-long interruption in the tournament as a result of escalating tensions between Pakistan and India.

Mullanpur To Host Playoffs
As per a report from Cricbuzz, the BCCI has opted to play the first two playoff matches at Mullanpur in New Chandigarh. Qualifier 1 and the Eliminator will be played on May 29 and May 30, respectively. The match will then travel to Ahmedabad, where Qualifier 2 will be played on June 1, before the finale on June 3.
The Narendra Modi Stadium, where big cricketing matches have taken place in recent times, is the world’s largest cricket stadium and a frequent venue of choice for big-ticket matches. The BCCI chose the venues, sources indicate, after going through weather forecasts to prevent disruptions due to the onset of the monsoon in other regions of India.
Why Not Kolkata?
Earlier, BCCI didn’t confirmed the venues for the playoff matches and the final. There were speculation that the final may be shifted from Kolkata due to the likelihood of adverse weather conditions.
