With the brand new season of the Pro Kabaddi League set to kick things off, the auction for the same has escalated the excitement for the spectators. With the successful organizing for 11 seasons, the Kabaddi landscape in the country has changed completely. The Auction is scheduled to take place in Mumbai on 31 May and 1 June. With 83 retentions this season, more than 500 players will go under the hammer at Mumbai.

How Many Players will be in the Pool?
In the Pro Kabaddi League (PKL) Season 12 Player Auction, over 500 players will be available for teams to buy. This includes top Indian players who were released after Season 11, players from the domestic kabaddi scene, and international players from other countries.
What is the maximum squad size for a team?
Each team can have at least 18 and at most 25 players in their squad.
How many foreign players are allowed in a team?
Each team can have a minimum of 2 and a maximum of 4 overseas (foreign) players in their squad.
How much money does each team have to buy players?
Every team will start with a budget of ₹5 crore to spend at the auction. But the actual amount they can use will depend on how many players they have already kept (retained) from last season.
What are the player categories and base prices?
Players are divided into 4 categories based on their experience and skill level:
- Category A – Base price: ₹30 lakh
- Category B – Base price: ₹20 lakh
- Category C – Base price: ₹13 lakh
- Category D – Base price: ₹9 lakh
Each category includes Raiders, Defenders, and All-Rounders.
What are Elite Retained Players (ERP)?
Before the auction, each team was allowed to keep up to 6 players from last season.
Out of these, up to 3 top players could be retained as Elite Retained Players, so teams don’t lose their key performers to other teams.
Who are New Young Players (NYP) and Retained Young Players (RYP)?
These are young players who have played in past PKL seasons.
A total of 58 young players were kept by teams before the auction. Teams could keep these players to help them grow and stay with the team longer.
What is the Final Bid Match (FBM)?
The FBM card lets teams buy back a player they had earlier released by matching the final auction price offered by another team.
What’s new in Season 12?
The FBM rule has changed:
- Now, teams can use the FBM card to keep the player for either 1 or 2 seasons.
- Earlier, they could only keep the player for 1 season.
How many FBMs can each team use?
Most teams can use up to 3 FBMs. But UP Yoddhas can only use 2 FBMs.
The number of FBMs a team gets depends on how many ERPs they kept:
- 6 ERPs retained → 1 FBM allowed
- 5 ERPs retained → 2 FBMs allowed
- 4 or fewer ERPs retained → 3 FBMs allowed
