Sai Sudharsan is set for the five-match Test series against England. The left-hand batter was one of Gujarat Titans’ brightest flames, scoring 759 runs at a wondrous average of 54.21 clearly cementing himself as one of the tournament’s most reliable performers. As much as Gujarat’s campaign fell one round short, Sudharsan is already focused on what’s next.
Sai Sudharsan Included In India Squad For England Tour
The 22-year-old has been included in India’s Test team for the forthcoming five-match series against England, which will start from June 20. He was originally due to play in the second unofficial Test for India A against the England Lions on June 6, but his near future schedule is still uncertain, particularly with the seniors scheduled to leave on the same day.
Transition From White-Ball To Red-Ball
Now that the fast-paced white-ball phase is done and dusted, Sudharsan is looking to readjust to the longer version. Though the shift from T20 to Test cricket is never smooth, he is optimistic that the preparation phase will enable him to make the transition and perform in India’s red-ball adventure.
County Cricket Gave “Great Experience” To Sudharsan
“In our mind, we were planning only to leave on the 4th from IPL, so we were not thinking about when to leave for India A or the Test team, but if that was the plan the Test team would have left on 6th, but now we will have to have a conversation and see how it goes,” said Sudharsan.
“I think I have played seven games in county cricket, so it gave me a great experience to be honest, it improved my batting multiple folds in terms of technique and in terms of basics to, it told me basics is the most important thing in batting.
“So, I think it should help me and I will focus more on what I learnt and I will try and be aware and create those awareness before going into the series,” he explained.
Playing Three Months Of White-Ball Cricket In IPL
“Definitely, after a long three months of white-ball tournament, certain things would have changed in your batting. I think focusing more on basics and bringing back those to red ball cricket will take some time, we will have some good time before the series starts,” said Sudharsan.
Sudharsan comes with rich experience from the English county circuit, having been part of Surrey before. He attributes the stint to exposing him to much-improved red-ball abilities, especially in adjusting to the swing-friendly and challenging conditions in England. He admitted that the technical challenges of batting there have aided in re-shaping his mindset and approach.
