Mohammad Haris Heroics Power Pakistan To 3-0 T20I Series Whitewash Over Bangladesh News24

Mohammad Haris produced a T20I masterclass in Lahore, blasting a scintillating unbeaten 107 off just 46 balls to help Pakistan romp to a crushing seven-wicket win over Bangladesh in the third match of the three-game series. The victory clinched a comprehensive 3-0 series whitewash for Pakistan.

Pakistan Batted Well

Pursuing a demanding 197-run target at the Gaddafi Stadium, Pakistan faltered initially with the premature dismissal of Sahibzada Farhan. However, Haris, along with budding star Saim Ayub (45 off 29), put the game on its head with a crackling 92-run stand off mere 53 deliveries. The pair shredded the Bangladeshi bowling lineup with brutal ferocity, taking full advantage of a batting paradise surface described as a “concrete slab” by ex-Pakistan international Aamir Sohail.

Harris Stole The Show

Haris, who entered at No. 3, hit his first international T20 half-century in 25 deliveries and drove his way to a hundred in 44 balls, missing out on the record for the quickest T20I hundred by a Pakistani batsman by just one delivery. His knock included eight boundaries and seven mighty sixes and was the first-ever T20I century hit by a Pakistani opener or non-opener.

Though wickets kept falling at the opposite end, such as the well-set Ayub and Mohammad Nawaz (26 in 13 balls), Haris was not perturbed. His calmness and persistent hitting made Pakistan achieve the target with 16 balls remaining. He was warmly hugged by skipper Salman Ali Agha when the team achieved the victory in the 18th over.

Match Summary

Earlier during the night, Bangladesh chose to bat and made a dream start, thanks to a 110-run first-wicket association between Tanzid Hasan (42 off 28) and Parvez Hossain Emon (66 off 36). It was their first fifty-plus stand in international cricket and set the stage for a potentially match-winning score.

Parvez was especially belligerent, handling pace and spin alike with disdain, while Tanzid came into his own with a collection of three sixes in succession. The visitors, however, failed to capitalize on the good start. Skipper Litton Das (22) and Towhid Hridoy (25) made good starts but could not go on, while the middle order was not fluent.

Shadab Khan’s dismissal of risky Parvez brought the tempo down, and even though Jaker Ali (15 not out) and Tanzim Hasan Sakib mounted some resistance late in the innings, Bangladesh’s 196 for 6 seemed ever so slightly short of par.

That impression was reinforced shortly afterwards, when Haris disassembled whatever hopes Bangladesh had for a consolation victory.

With this dominating display, Haris was richly rewarded as both Player of the Match and Player of the Series after scoring 179 runs in the three matches at a staggering strike rate. His thrilling performance rounded off a perfect outing for Pakistan, and Bangladesh departed the series undefeated after flashes of individual brilliance.

Pakistan now look towards future assignments with fresh confidence, while Bangladesh will have to sit and contemplate on lost opportunities and need to regroup particularly with the ball and in the field.
