Jey Uso Loses WWE World Heavyweight Championship

Jey Uso won the World Heavyweight Championship by defeating Gunther at WrestleMania 41. However, his championship reign was short-lived and, according to fans and legends alike, poorly handled. Jey lost his title in just 51 days, suffering defeat at the hands of Gunther once again during this week’s episode of WWE RAW.

Jey looked visibly heartbroken after the loss, especially with his son present at ringside during the match. His defeat has sparked major outrage among WWE fans, many of whom believe Jey deserved a longer and more meaningful title run given his immense popularity.

Fans and Family Furious Over WWE’s Decision

The WWE Universe has expressed disappointment over how Jey Uso’s title reign was handled. Many fans are questioning why the company would make such a sudden and underwhelming move, particularly when Jey’s momentum was at its peak. Given his strong fan-following, many believe he should have remained champion for much longer.

Adding to the backlash, WWE Hall of Famer Rikishi, Jey Uso’s father also publicly criticized the company and WWE Chief Content Officer Triple H. He voiced his frustrations during an episode of “Off The Top Rope” podcast, where he addressed both Jey’s booking and the overall direction of the storyline.

What Did Rikishi Say?

Speaking passionately, Rikishi said “If you can show me anyone who sells more merchandise than Jey right now, I want to see it. Jey has brought in so much revenue for this company. He’s a kid who poured his heart and soul into reaching the main event. And when he finally gets there, he doesn’t get the right opponents, or the right storyline. In my eyes, the effort behind his booking was not appropriate.”

He didn’t hold back, further stating:

“I’m saying this – scrap whatever creative direction you’re writing for this kid. If you can’t think of an angle for Jey Uso, you’re not doing your job right. Step aside and let someone else take over who understands his value.”

Jey Uso to Compete in King of the Ring Qualifier

Despite his recent setback, Jey Uso has been handed another big opportunity. WWE’s Men’s King of the Ring Tournament is currently underway, with qualifying matches taking place across RAW and SmackDown.

Some superstars have already made it to the semi-finals, and next week’s RAW will feature a high-stakes qualifier. WWE Official Adam Pearce announced that Jey Uso will compete in a Fatal Four-Way Match against Sheamus, Rusev, and Bronson Reed. This gives Jey a chance to bounce back and potentially reach the finals of the tournament.

The King of the Ring Final will take place on June 28 at the highly anticipated Night of Champions Premium Live Event in Saudi Arabia.
