Japan Open 2025: Lakshya Sen, Satwik-Chirag Out After Losing 2nd Round

India’s campaign in the Japan Open 2025 has been full of disappointments, as PV Sindhu was knocked out from the tournament just after round 1 and now both Lakshya Sen and Satwik-Chirag duo failed to progress further. Lakshya Sen started the tournament with a confident win against China’s Wang Zheng Xing but his momentum was short lived and he lost straight sets toJapan’s Kodai Naraoka, 19-21, 11-21 with the match only lasting for almost an hour.

Satwik-Chirag Face Disappointing Loss

In the men’s doubles, Satwik and Chirag also disappointed as the duo lost straight sets to China’s Liang Wei Keng and Wang Chang. The top Indian duo went down 22-24, 14-21 in the match. The Chinese Pair against Satwik and Chirag also have been the former world number one and silver medalists at Paris Olympics. The challenge in front of the Indian duo was too strong to handle and at the end India was left with nothing but a upsetting defeat.

Which Indian Is Left In The Tournament Now?

With all the top star players out of the race, there is only one Indian Anupama Upadhyaya left in the tournament. The 20-year old has advanced to the second round after a solid win against Indian Rakshitha Ramraj, prevailing 21-15, 18-21, 21-18.

PV Sindhu Out After 1st Round

Sindhu, aged 30, never really found her stride and faced several misjudgments, particularly in gauging the distance of opponent Sim Yu Jin’s shots. She lost 15-21, 14-21 in a match which was marginally over 30 minutes. While there was some strung-out rallies in the first game, Sim remained unperturbed and bagged her first-ever win against the Indian veteran. In the second game, Sindhu mounted a fleeting 1-6 fightback to get herself level at 11-all, but Sim shifted gears to close out the match in style.
