Following a miss of the 2025 Indian Premier League season due to a back operation, Australian all-rounder Cameron Green is setting his sights on a return in 2026. Green, who made his IPL debut with Mumbai Indians in 2023 and was subsequently traded to Royal Challengers Bengaluru for the 2024 season, withdrew from the 2025 season as he pursued a comeback that had him sidelined until May.
Now back in action, Green had a convincing return to T20 cricket with a winning half-century against the West Indies, even though he is yet to return to bowling responsibilities. His hard-hitting batting and all-round abilities continue to be in high demand, which makes him a desirable candidate prior to IPL 2026.

A glance at three teams which would hugely profit by incorporating Cameron Green into their squad follows:
Rajasthan Royals (RR)
Rajasthan Royals had a poor middle order in IPL 2025. The all-important number 3 and 4 spots were held by Riyan Parag and Nitish Rana, respectively, and they were not able to provide the consistency that was required of them. With rumours around Rana leaving RR and going back to Kolkata Knight Riders in 2026, RR might suddenly need a consistent middle-order batter.
Shimron Hetmyer, who was expected to seal off games for the Royals, did not quite reach that level last season, so Dhruv Jurel had to step in. Cameron Green would fit in nicely at number 4, providing solidity and big-hitting, and also being an occasional bowling option as he returns to full fitness. His inclusion would provide balance and firepower to RR’s middle order.
Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH)
After a bright beginning with SRH, Ishan Kishan was unable to sustain himself during IPL 2025, creating a vacancy in the top order. SRH captain Pat Cummins, a long-time partner of Green in the Australian ranks, is well aware of his capabilities and would be the ideal captain to utilise him to the fullest.
If Green is included in Hyderabad, he may take over the number 3 position and allow Heinrich Klaasen to get back to his more potent role at number 4. The change would bring depth as well as flexibility to SRH’s batting line-up. The fact that Green will be able to bowl medium pace when fit will also provide Cummins with an additional bowling option, which will be valuable on slow wickets.
Delhi Capitals (DC)
Delhi Capitals are said to be exploring significant alterations before IPL 2026. With potential Faf du Plessis and Jake Fraser-McGurk trades, and with KL Rahul and Abhishek Porel set to open, the spots at number 3 and 4 are still to be filled.
Cameron Green’s versatility makes him an ideal fit. Whether it is holding up an innings or hitting hard at the bowlers, Green is offering stability and flexibility. He could easily replace Karun Nair in the XI and play an important role in remodelling DC’s top-order scenario.
With his comeback all but over and form back, Cameron Green might be the most valuable selection in the IPL 2026 auction. Whether it’s strengthening the middle order, providing equilibrium with the ball in hand, or just adding a useful overseas alternative, many franchises will be following the Aussie superstar’s comeback trail closely.
