ENG Vs IND: Ravindra Jadeja Gets Distracted By A Fan’s T-Shirt At The Oval

An interesting incident happened on Day 3 of the fifth and last Test between England and India at the Kia Oval in London between Ravindra Jadeja and a spectator in the stands. While batting, Jadeja spotted a spectator wearing a bright red t-shirt right in front of him and it appeared to be very distracting for him. He reported the matter to on-field umpire Kumar Dharmasena.

As a reaction, Dharmasena informed the ground staff and asked that the fan be reseated elsewhere, ideally to the right of Jadeja. Instead of reseating, however, the fan consented to change his shirt. A ground staff member provided him with a grey t-shirt, which he then wore. The move was greeted with a thumbs-up by Jadeja, ending the issue in a sporting manner.

While that happened, India strengthened their hold on the game. England were left with a huge task at the end of Day 3 stumps scoring 374. India lost only one wicket during the morning session, the one of Akash Deep, who played a brief but strong 66 off 94 deliveries. His 107-run partnership with Yashasvi Jaiswal set the tone for a robust innings.

Jaiswal, recovering from a poor performance in the first innings, played a controlled and crucial knock of 118 off 164 balls. Jadeja chipped in with another crucial half-century, adding to his magnificent series. Washington Sundar provided a late kick to the innings with his blistering cameo. The 25-year-old hammered three sixes in five deliveries, putting England’s bowlers on the back foot.

England had a strong start, with opening duo Ben Duckett and Zak Crawley contributing 50 runs to the first wicket. But the breakthrough came through a toe-crushing yorker by Mohammed Siraj that got Crawley back for 14. The hosts finished the day requiring 324 more runs with nine wickets still available in their hand.
