MS Dhoni Reveals About His Future With CSK, Says ‘Don’t Think I’ll Be Playing For…’ News24 –

Finally, after weeks of speculation and weeks of silence over his future with the Chennai Super Kings (CSK), MS Dhoni has finally opened up. At a private event earlier this week, the former CSK captain spoke of his future with the team, revealing that he has a connection with them beyond playing and one that is long-term.

While it was generally thought that the 44-year-old would call time on his career at the end of the 2024 season, Dhoni staged a stunning return in the 2025 IPL. After Ruturaj Gaikwad’s withdrawal through an elbow injury, Dhoni resumed the captaincy, leading a trailblazing CSK team through a dismal campaign. Even with his comeback, the five-time IPL titleholders finished at the foot of the table, winning only four of their 14 games.

Until then, Dhoni had skirted making any direct comments on his playing future. Indeed, at an event last week, he diplomatically deflected a query regarding whether he would ever step out onto the field again. But on Saturday, the great cricketer opened up, admitting CSK’s poor season’s performance while reassuring fans that his relationship with the franchise will always remain intact whether he plays or he doesn’t.

“Me and CSK, we are together. You know even for the next 15-20 years (crowd cheers). I hope they don’t think I’ll be playing for another 15-20 years! But yeah,” Dhoni said in a private event

“It’s not about one year or two years. I will always be sitting in a yellow jersey. You know whether I’ll be playing or not in a while, but yeah, you know yourself,” he added

“Yes, the last couple of years have not been good for us. We have not been up to the mark. But what is important is for you to see the learnings. Yes, you had a bad season. But what went wrong? And that was the question for us last year also,” he said.
