No More Matches In M.Chinnaswamy! DY Patil Stadium Replaced As Key Venue For ICC Women’s World Cup 2025 News24 –
In a significant shake-up to the ICC Women’s World Cup 2025 schedule, the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai has been confirmed as a new host venue, replacing Bengaluru’s M Chinnaswamy Stadium. The decision comes after the Karnataka State Association failed to secure the required government clearance to host matches, the ICC announced on Friday (August 22).
Why the Change?
Bengaluru’s participation as a venue had been in doubt since early August. The situation worsened following the tragic stampede during celebrations of RCB’s IPL title victory, raising serious concerns over crowd management and safety protocols.
With the clearance not coming through, ICC moved swiftly to finalize Navi Mumbai as the replacement. The DY Patil Stadium will now host three league games, a semi-final, and possibly the final – unless Pakistan qualifies, in which case the summit clash will be held at Colombo’s R Premadasa Stadium.
