Former Australian cricketer Michael Clarke who has been regarded as one of the best batters in the Australian cricket history has revealed that he has been diagnosed with skin cancer. Clarke shared the news on social media, and he even encouraged the people to undergo regular health checkups and remain vigilant about their well-being.

“Skin cancer is real! Especially in Australia. Another one cut out of my nose today. A friendly reminder to get your skin checked. Prevention is better than cure but in my case, regular check-ups and early detection is key. So grateful that @drbishsoliman_ got it early”. Michael Clarke wrote on Instagram

Clarke is known for his strong stroke play and sharp cricketing skills. He represented Australia between 2004 and 2015, in his overall career he featured in 115 Tests, 245 ODIs and 34 T20Is. He has even captained the Australian side in both Test and ODI formats and guided Australia towards many victories.

Under Clarke’s leadership, Australia whitewashed England by 5-0 in 2013-14 Ashes and also won the ICC Cricket World Cup 2015. During his captaincy, he helped his team achieve 47 victories in 74 matches which established him as one of the most successful Australian leader.

Clarke’s diagnosis serves as a stark reminder to keep going through regular check-ups and it also brings renewed attention towards skin caner which arises from uncontrolled growth of abnormal skin cells which are mostly triggered by excessive exposure to Ultraviolet (UV) rays.
