No Jersey Sponsor For Team India! BCCI Faces Sponsorship Crunch Ahead Of Asia Cup 2025 News24 –

As the Asia Cup 2025 looms just days away, the Indian cricket team might play on without a jersey sponsor – a novelty for the cricketing giants. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is doing their best to finalize a new long-term sponsorship agreement by whatever means necessary, preferably running up to the 2027 ODI World Cup, as India Today reports.

Dream11 Exit Sparks Sponsorship Crisis

The abrupt vacuum was created when Dream11 severed its ties with the BCCI, after the Promotion and Regulation of Online Gaming Act 2025 had been passed. The legislation forbids money game-promoting organizations from advertising money-based online games, in turn preventing fantasy sports websites like Dream11 and My11Circle from being able to maintain their multi-crore alliances.

Dream11 had signed an agreement worth Rs 358 crore alone, generating a combined Rs 1,000 crore sponsorship income with My11Circle. Yet, with the Act now enacted, BCCI will have to seek options outside of gaming companies to fill this humongous financial void.

Emergency Meeting and Tight Timeline

A crisis Apex Council meeting was called on August 28, under the chairmanship of interim president Rajeev Shukla, to consider probable replacements. BCCI Secretary Devajit Saikia confirmed Dream11’s withdrawal and assured that attempts to find a new title sponsor are being made.

But with the Asia Cup commencing on September 9, the clock is ticking rapidly. The chance of the Indian team taking to the field with no sponsor logo emblazoned on their jerseys – something close to impossible in contemporary cricket seems more and more real.

Revenue Impact Beyond the Asia Cup

The situation raises broader concerns about revenue streams for Indian cricket, particularly with gaming firms now out of the sponsorship equation. Unless a quick deal is struck with a major corporate entity, the financial hit could affect future tournaments and potentially impact BCCI’s larger commercial strategies.
