Former Indian cricketer Suresh Raina has praised young Indian batter Vaibhav Suryavanshi calling him a future star after his stunning performance in IPL 2025. The 14-year old batter made headlines even before the tournament began as he was picked by Rajasthan Royals for INR 1.1 crore.
Suryavanshi did not disappoint and in just seven matches he piled up 252 runs and established himself as one of the top picks of the league. He took an early flight in his career when he scored 101 off 38 balls in match against Gujarat Titans. That knock not only made him the youngest male player to score a T20 century but also the second-fastest century in IPL history, as he achieved the milestone in just 35 deliveries.
“Vaibhav Suryavanshi. His fearless approach is different. Mhatre is also good, but Vaibhav has an X-factor; such talents are rare. He recently scored a ton in England and a century in the IPL. It shows this player from Bihar proves – ek Bihari sab pe bhari (One from Bihar is heavier than all). Nobody knew about Samastipur, but a player from a village showed his potential,” said Raina on Shubhankar Mishra’s YouTube channel.
“There was a coach from Bihar who told me that he looked after him. Such players come once in a century, whether it’s Rishabh Pant, Vaibhav Suryavanshi, or Rinku Singh… Ayush Mhatre, at the age of 17, right from the very first match (for CSK), whatever he has done (has been impressive),” he added.
