Pakistan registered a second consecutive win as they defeated hosts UAE by 31 runs in the high-scoring T20I match. Pakistan posted a strong total of 207 runs which is also their third highest score in T20Is. The foundation was laid by Saim Ayub who performed incredibly well. The left-handed batter tore into UAE’s bowling attack and scored 69 off 38 balls.
After Ayub’s dismissal, Hasan Nawaz took over and smashed 38 off just 22 balls. Despite losing wickets in clusters, Pakistan’s lower middle order Mohammad Nawaz (25), Faheem Ashraf (16) and Hasan Ali (9) ensured that they scored 45 runs in the final overs.
UAE on the other hand struggled from the start as they were completely dependant on their captain Muhammad Waseem, who scored 33 runs. Apart from him, the wickets collapsed and Pakistan’s spin attack led by Nawaz and Ayub emerged dominant. The bowlers ensured that UAE was piled up at a mere score of 176.
Despite the match going towards the Pakistani side, Asif Khan was the sole warrior for UAE. He smashed 77 off 35 balls and improved UAE’s net run rate.
