ED Summons Former Indian Cricketer Shikhar Dhawan In Online Betting App Case News24 –


ED has summoned former Indian cricketer Shikhar Dhawan in betting app case. According to the officials, the probe found out the this is in relation to 1xBet, an online platform which Dhawan was allegedly promoting on social media. The ED has now informed the cricketer to come for investigation in order to clarify his role in the promotional activities related to betting.

According to the news agency PTI, the 39-year old former cricketer has been linked to the app through certain endorsements. There are multiple cases of other celebrities also who were involved in promoting online betting. Even, actor Rana Daggubati has appeared before the ED in Hyderabad.

Earlier, ED had questioned Suresh Raina, 38 for more than eight hours. The federal probe agency even recorded Raina’s statement as a part of investigation. The agency also called representatives from Google and Meta for questioning as multiple searches were conducted. There was a similar kind of investigation against an online betting app named Parimatch.

Recently, the online gaming bill was passed which completely banned real-money based gaming. After this even the Indian Team lost its sponsor Dream11 and is currently waiting for a new one to take over.
