Asia Cup 2025: Pakistan left humiliated as India walks off without handshake, shuts door on their face

The match between India and Pakistan in the Asia Cup 2025 was filled with intense tension since the very start. Opting to bat first, Pakistan could only score a mere total of 128 runs which were easily chased down by India but what gained attention was India’s refusal to shake hands with the Pakistan team.

The Pakistani team was left out in the open waiting while the Indian batters Suryakumar Yadav and Shivam Dube directly went towards the changing room and shut the door. The left Pakistan captain Salman Ali Agha and his squad awkwardly waiting near the Indian area for a handshake that never came. Even during the toss, both the captains didn’t shake hands and went their own way.

Speaking at the post-match press conference, Mike Hesson confirmed that the Pakistani players were prepared for the usual handshake ritual, but chose to walk away when it became evident that no Indian players were coming out to reciprocate. This left Hesson and all the Pakistan players visibly frustrated.

“That was a disappointing way for the match to finish. We were disappointed in the way we played, but certainly were willing to go and shake hands,” he added.
