UPL T20 2025: A thrilling opening day shakes up the Points Table

UPL T20 2025: The Uttarakhand Premier League 2025 got off to a flying start as cricket lovers across the state were treated to a dramatic opening day featuring three action-packed matches. From nail-biting finishes to a run-fest that lit up the scoreboard, the second season of UPL has begun with a bang and so has the race for the top of the points table.

Haridwar Vasant Elmas Light Up the Night, Go Top

It was a spectacle to remember as Haridwar Vasant Elmas unleashed a batting masterclass against the Pithoragarh Hurricanes. The Elmas posted a mammoth 252/6 in their 20 overs — a score that will be talked about for the rest of the season. Led by an aggressive top order and ruthless finishing, Haridwar set the tone for their campaign with an 80-run demolition job.

Pithoragarh, in reply, managed 172/5 in their full quota of overs but never really looked in the chase. The result catapulted Haridwar Vasant Elmas to the top of the table, while Pithoragarh finds themselves anchored at the bottom, licking their wounds after a tough defeat.

Rishikesh Falcons Soar to Second Place

Earlier in the day, the Rishikesh Falcons made light work of the Tehri Titans in a clinical run chase. Tehri struggled throughout their innings, scraping together just 112/9 in 20 overs. Rishikesh made short work of the target, chasing it down in just 13 overs with 8 wickets to spare.

The victory was not only dominant in terms of performance but crucial for net run rate, placing the Falcons at second place on the points table. As for Tehri Titans, their underwhelming effort saw them fall to sixth.

Dehradun Warriors Upset Defending Champions but Sit at Third

In the opening clash of the tournament, Dehradun Warriors pulled off a strong win against last season’s champions, USN Indians. Batting first, Dehradun put up a competitive 162/9 and backed it up with disciplined bowling to restrict the Indians to 146/9.

Despite the 16-run win against a formidable opponent, Dehradun finds themselves at number three in the standings, a reflection of the heavy wins by Rishikesh and Haridwar in their respective matches. USN Indians, on the other hand, begin their title defense with a loss and sit at fifth.
