Ishan Kishan slams century, sends strong message to selectors ahead of Test series against South Africa News24 –

Ishan Kishan has sent a strong message to the selectors as he smacked a ton on the opening day of Ranji Trophy season. He anchored Jharkhand’s innings against Tamil Nadu in Ranchi on October 15. He found valuable support from the other end as opener Sharandeep Singh also scored 48 runs.

Tamil Nadu bowling did have some moments, especially courtesy of left-arm seamer Gurjapneet Singh, who hit three times with the new ball. DT Chandrasekar also made his return to the Ranji team with two wickets, keeping Jharkhand from running away with the day completely.

Shami Strikes late as Bengal battles back

At Eden Gardens, experienced pacer Mohammed Shami came up with a late show of magic to help Bengal get back into the game against Uttarakhand. Having a quiet beginning, Shami came roaring back with three wickets from four balls in a scorching late spell, bowling out the visitors for 213.

Captain Abhimanyu Easwaran contributed some helpful reverse swing, mounting pressure from the alternative end. Bengal’s response, though, started on a bitter note as Easwaran got out on the very first ball of their innings. Bengal were at 8 for 1 at stumps, with Sudip Chatterjee and Sudip Kumar Gharami keeping the ship steady under fading light and early pressure.
