PCB removes Mohammad Waseem as women’s team head coach after winless World Cup campaign News24 –

Pakistan had a disappointing run in the recently concluded Women’s ODI World Cup following which the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) had decided not to renew the contract of women’s team head coach Mohammad Waseem.

The board released an official statement and mentioned that it is committed to developing and investing in women’s cricket. It further stated that a new coach is already underway and will take the office soon.

“The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has announced the completion of Mohammad Waseem’s tenure as Head Coach of the Pakistan National Women’s Cricket Team,” the board said in an official release.

“The process to appoint a new head coach is currently underway, and the announcement regarding his successor will be made in due course,” the statement added.

“The PCB remains committed to strengthening women’s cricket in Pakistan and ensuring the team receives the best possible support to achieve continued success on the international stage,” the board said.

In the World Cup, Pakistan only managed to pick three points from seven matches and all of them were abandoned matches. They could not win a single match on their own. All of Pakistan’s matches were played at the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo, where conditions, as well as form, eluded them.

Pakistan lost to Harmanpreet Kaur led team India by 88 runs during the competition, and also lost to Bangladesh, Australia, as well as South Africa, rounding off a campaign that the team will want to quickly move past.
