There has been a huge buzz about the most iconic Ashes series rivalry between Australia and England. The fans are excited to witness what kind of game England is preparing to put up in front of Australia, especially Joe Root, who has been playing sensational for the last three years but still has not been able to make a single century during the Ashes tournament.
Marcus Trescothick, who is England’s assistant coach, shed light on the right-hand batter Joe Root’s recent work and highlighted the fact that the former skipper appears to possess complete control over his game and has now brought his batting to a new level in anticipation of the 2025 Ashes series against Australia.
Trescothick also highlighted Root’s comeback under the guidance of bold coach Brendon McCullum and anticipates that the right-handed batter will end his century drought in the upcoming Ashes series, which will start in Perth on November 21, and will be displaying a great performance in the ICC World Test Championship, as this Ashes series is a part of the esteemed tournament.
Coach Praises Player’s Form And Stresses Stability Ahead Of Ashes
“The way he’s gone in the last couple of years will probably explain he’s comfortable with what he’s trying to do, how he’s playing his game. His game has gone to the next level and hence the reason where he is in the rankings. You would be very surprised if he doesn’t carry on in that same sort of vein with the style of play and the type of player he is” as quoted by ICC
“I guess everyone has an opportunity to stake their claim. As I mentioned, how consistent we’ve been with our team selection, it’s been very level. Bar the odd injury, we’ve not really chopped and changed a great deal. It’s definitely not going to change dramatically before the start of an Ashes series because someone puts their hand up by taking five wickets or gets 150. The team has been what it has been for a period of time for a reason, so that when you come to big series, you are more settled and confident going into it,” he said.
