Bad news for Arjun Tendulkar as Mumbai Indians may trade all-rounder with…, Hardik Pandya’s team want to get… News24 –
While the blockbuster Ravindra Jadeja–Sam Curran–Sanju Samson deal between Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals steals the headlines, another significant player exchange is building up silently in the background. According to Cricbuzz, Lucknow Super Giants and Mumbai Indians are in advanced talks over Shardul Thakur and Arjun Tendulkar.
Interestingly, this may not be a straightforward “trade” in the IPL context. Sources close to the development indicate that both transfers may be independent all-cash dealings rather than a direct player exchange. Or, in other words, Thakur and Tendulkar might change franchises separately, but the timing of the two announcements makes it seem like an exchange.
The deal will be made official by the Board of Control for Cricket in India as per IPL trade protocols. Those close to the Mumbai cricket circuit have informed that the talks are indeed genuine, while an announcement could be made related to the release and retention list on November 15.
Thakur, who is currently leading Mumbai in domestic cricket, was picked up by LSG last season for his base price of INR 2 crore after going unsold in the Jeddah mega auction. He finished with 13 wickets from 10 matches and 18 runs, mostly taking the new ball and providing key early breakthroughs.
Meanwhile, Arjun Tendulkar, who has been in the MI squad for a couple of years, was bought at his base price of INR 20 lakh in both the auctions he entered. The 26-year-old left-arm all-rounder didn’t feature in any game last season but has played five IPL matches overall, scoring 13 runs and taking three wickets.
It is not certain which of the two franchises made the first approach, but it seems both parties are interested in making this happen. Tendulkar moved to Goa from Mumbai a couple of seasons ago for domestic cricket and has thus far played 21 first-class matches. His chances have been limited by the fierce competition for spots in Mumbai’s teams both domestic and IPL so a fresh start could help him out.
