Will Rohit Sharma play Vijay Hazare Trophy? MCA official reveals truth behind ongoing buzz News24 –

Former Indian skipper Rohit Sharma was reportedly set to play Vijay Hazare Trophy but the Mumbai Cricket Association has now cleared the air and clarified that no such communication has been received from the player so far.

An MCA official told PTI that “There has been no communication as far as I am aware,” the official said as he dismissed the ongoing speculation. Earlier in a report by The Indian Express, it claimed that BCCI and the Indian Team Management has instructed both Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli to play domestic cricket in order to remain eligible for national selection.

The Vijay Hazare Trophy will be held from December 25 to January 18 and the matches will be held across Ahmedabad, Rajkot, Jaipur and Bengaluru. The knockouts will be played at the BCCI Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru.

Rohit Sharma last played ODI series against Australia where he made a stunning comeback after remaining out for seven months. In the three-match ODI series, Rohit was dismissed for a duck in the first one but he made a stunning comeback as he scored 73 and 121 in second and third ODI.

Since returning home last month, Rohit has been regularly training at the MCA’s Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC) facility in Mumbai to prepare for the three-match ODI series against South Africa, set to begin on November 30 in Ranchi.
