LSG IPL 2026 Retention: Rishabh Pant Retained, Mohammed Shami Traded In

LSG’s IPL 2026 Retention: Lucknow Super Giants have made some surprising decisions ahead of IPL 2026. Despite placing faith in him during the mega auction, the franchise has released spinner Ravi Bishnoi following a below-par season, especially with the rise of Digvesh Rathi. Alongside Bishnoi, LSG has also let go of David Miller and Akash Deep, while retaining most of their core players.

Much like Delhi Capitals, LSG started last season on a high, winning five of their first eight matches. But the momentum slipped in the latter half, as Rishabh Pant’s side lost five of their last six games, finishing seventh with 12 points.

Ahead of the retention deadline, Lucknow have been proactive in reshaping their squad. The franchise conducted three separate all-cash trades, including sending pace-bowling all-rounder Shardul Thakur to Mumbai Indians for Rs. 2 crore, aiming to free up purse value for the upcoming mini-auction.
