India skeet shooter Angad Vir Singh Bajwa to represent Canada after switching Nationality

The 30-year-old skeet shooter Angad Vir Singh Bajwa, who has switched his nationality, will now represent Canada in future competitions. Angad announced this through a post on social media. On December 25, the shooter shared on Instagram a photo of his new red shooting vest with his name and the Canadian flag. Angad participated in the men’s skeet event at the Asian Games 2018 for India and in the Tokyo Olympics 2021.

A trail of medals across Asia and ISSF World Cups

The Asian Shotgun Championships of 2018 saw him winning a gold medal. At the Asian Championship of 2019, he again came up with a silver medal in the mixed team event along with Ganemat Sekhon, and once more a gold in the men’s skeet event which was a world record perfect score of 60/60 in the final held in Kuwait. He also gained two golds and one bronze medal in ISSF World Cups. His latest international competition was at the Asian Shooting Championships 2025 in Shymkent, Kazakhstan, where he represented India.

Overseas family presence offers new direction for Indian shooter

At the recent National Shooting Championships, he placed fourth in the men’s skeet final. Angad’s mum and dad are Canadians and dad, Gurpal, runs a hospitality business, and this perhaps is one of the reasons why the 30-year-old has opted to quit India.
