IPL 2026: KKR asked to pick Marco Jansen’s brother as replacement of Mustafizur Rahman by…

Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) picked Bangladesh pacer Mustafizur Rahman for INR 9.20 crores at the IPL 2026 auction which was held in Abu Dhabi on December 16, 2025. But soon after BCCI directed KKR to release the pacer due to rising tensions and killings of minority Hindus in Bangladesh. BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia told ANI that the board has made it clear and asked KKR to part ways with the pacer.

He also mentioned and assured the franchise that they would be permitted to sign a replacement player if they wished to do so. The replacement slot now remains open and the Shah Rukh Khan owned franchise will be looking to sign the ideal player in Mustafizur Rahman’s place. Former KKR and Bengal wicketkeeper-batter Shreevats Goswami has suggested that the team consider South African fast-bowling all-rounder Duan Jansen as a like-for-like alternative.

Shreevats Goswami gave his suggestion and wrote “Marco Jansen’s brother duan Jansen isn’t a bad replacement option for the @KKRiders. Like for like and also can defo bat better. Get him @KKRiders”

Duan Jansen is the twin brother of South Africa bowling all-rounder Marco Jansen and he has already featured once in IPL for Mumbai Indians in 2023. The 25-year old represents Joburg Super Kings in SA 2025-26 seasons. In his T20I career, Duan has played 48 matches and has taken 46 wickets – he even contributed 329 runs with the bat.
