Ruturaj Gaikwad asked to ‘keep fighting’ as selection gets tough if not from these three states…

Ruturaj Gaikwad’s non-selection in India’s squad for the series against New Zealand has raised a new wave of questions on decision-making by the selection committee in the BCCI. The Chennai opener was seen performing well as he scored a hundred in his last match itself, but still, his selection was not considered. This particular decision to leave him out now has raised many questions since it took place when Shreyas Iyer is back into the squad. Although his inclusion is still pending on his receiving a fit note for the injury suffered during the Australia tour, his selection as a standby did not occur even.

Former India opener Robin Uthappa also shared his views on this matter by admitting that it has been tough for him to accept that Gaikwad has been left out of the team. He spoke about how it is tough for cricketers in the country to live in an uncertain world where they have to struggle in order to remain in their respective spots in the playing eleven.

“Buddy, it’s very hard to process. You have to make it make sense, right? It takes a toll, and you need to almost kind of find silver linings to kind of lean back on. In these circumstances, it’s not the easiest thing to do. It’s hectic, and you’ve to find a way to see silver linings. One of the challenges with Indian cricket is that you’re constantly operating on survival mode. And to switch from that mindset, it takes immense amount of resilience, immense amount of self-talk and positive self-talk, and you’ve to be able to be a silver linings guy,” Uthappa said on his YouTube channel.

“And you’ve to find a way to keep fighting, keep fighting, keep fighting, especially if you don’t come from one of three big states in India, which is Mumbai, Delhi, and Punjab. If you’re not from one of those states, then you’ve to keep pushing yourself, pushing yourself,” he added.

Robin Uthappa clearly mentioned three states which are favoured more these are Mumbai, Delhi and Punjab.
