Who is Ayush Badoni? Delhi player who received maiden ODI call-up in IND vs NZ ODI series

The 26-year-old player from Delhi named Ayush Badoni has received his maiden India ODI call-up as a replacement of Washington Sundar. In the first ODI against New Zealand Washington Sundar faced sharp pain in his lower left rib area when he was bowling at the BCA Stadium in Vadodara on Sunday, January 11.

Who is Ayush Badoni?

Born in 1999 in Delhi, Badoni has been consistently performing well and rose to prominence when he was picked in IPL 2022 mega auction by Lucknow Super Giants for a base price of INR 20 lakh. Gautam Gambhir was the mentor of LSG at that time and he entrusted Badoni with number 6 role – a challenging position for a newcomer. LSG’s continued belief in his potential was evident when the franchise retained him for INR 4 crore ahead of the mega auction before IPL 2025. Overall in the Indian Premier League he has played 56 matches and scored 963 runs with a strike rate of 138.56.

He has performed significantly well in the Delhi Premier League (DPL) as well and even leads South Delhi Superstarz. In First Class cricket he has played 21 matches and scored 1681 runs – this includes 4 centuries and 7 hal-centuries. In List A, he has played 27 matches and scored 693 runs – this includes one century and five half-centuries.
