The ICC has assured that there are no risks to the Bangladesh cricket team in regard to the T20 World Cup 2026 and that they are able to perform their fixtures in India as expected and planned. The safety standards for conducting the tournament are also in accordance with international standards for larger sports events. The BCB had previously expressed concerns to conduct their fixtures in India and had formally submitted their request to the ICC to shift their fixtures to somewhere else because of safety concerns.
As per the reports, the risk levels for the Bangladeshi matches in Kolkata and Mumbai have been found low to moderate by professional security risk assessments, and all these risks are manageable with regular security procedures.
The ICC has clarified that it never advocated the restriction of players or supporters on any security ground and is satisfied with the arrangements being made in association with the BCCI. The tournament schedule is finalized with the unchanged stance of the ICC.
The BCB reaffirmed that it has already raised its concerns regarding security and is in wait of an official response from ICC. On Monday, sports advisor Asif Nazrul said: that the ICC’s security team was aware of certain risks, such as the presence of supporters and elections, which may affect the team and its supporters. The issues raised in the letter include that Bangladesh’s Mustafizur Rahman will be participating in the World Cup and supporters of Bangladesh may also have some security concerns.
