BBL 2026: Struggles continue for Mohammad Rizwan, gets retired out due to…

Pakistan’s star batter and former captain Mohammad Rizwan has faced criticism in the Big Bash League ((BBL) after he was forced retired out. He has been devoid of any batting practice as he has been unable to get noticed either as a representative player for his country or within the Big Bash League. It so happened in one of his latest matches that he was even forced to retire as his batting speed was so slow that it hurt the onlookers.

On Monday, there during BBL cricket match played between Sydney Thunder and Melbourne Renegades. For the former, batting first, there was a brief but aggressive opening partnership by Josh Brown and Tim Sypherd. Coming in as the third-man, Jack Fraser McGurk was able to get only 19 runs and then departed. Then came Mohammad Rizwan as the fourth-man, but his innings proceeded at a pace so slow that he had to retire.

However, in the 18th over of the innings, Rizwan had managed to accumulateonly 26 runs from 23 deliveries. Realizing that there were only two overs left for the innings to end, the team opted to recall him to the field without any improvement in the scorecard. They concluded their innings at 170/20. Cricket experts have noted that if Rizwan had opted to be a bit more aggressive on the field, the team may have scored more.

Rizwan has played a total of eight innings in the current BBL series and he hasn’t even scored a single half-century. His highest score yet is 41 runs that came on January 4. Rizwan may not see the end of the season if the current format of the T20 series continues to yield low results.
