AJ Lee opens up on grief and adoption after Larry Talbot’s death

The Brooks/Mendez family has endured very tough days in the past weeks after CM Punk (real name: Phillip Brooks) and AJ Lee (real name: April Jeanette Mendez) lost their dog Larry, and now Lee has made a heartbreaking announcement on the internet. For the couple, Larry was no longer just a pet dog, he turned out to be an icon in the pro wrestling culture with his great personality as the years went by.

AJ Lee pays touching tribute following Larry Talbot’s untimely death

“Larry Talbot” was, sadly, only able to enjoy the world for just about eleven years but his main supporter during that time, CM Punk, has already spoken out while WWE and some of their most popular wrestlers have also expressed their sorrow for the loss of a person that had such a big impact on them. After a long period of grief, AJ Lee has now written a very emotional tribute.

Larry’s presence was the “center” of AJ Lee’s happiest days for a person who has been through depression in her life. In a lengthy Instagram post, Lee looked back at the time when she rescued Larry after a number of foster families had given him up because they found him ‘chaotic’ and hard to handle.

“Over a decade ago our Larry Talbot was surrendered there for doing the most. Multiple fosters gave up on him, one stating on record ‘I cannot allow this chaos in my home any longer.’ A professional trainer called him ‘a lost cause.’ He survived abuse and abandonment and was just misunderstood. We knew he was perfect for us,” she wrote.

AJ Lee fondly recalls Larry Talbot’s mischievous spirit and unlikely fame

Larry’s antics were the biggest and most unrestrained, and AJ recalled a few such moments when he would lighten up their lives through his pranks, like snatching away cakes or pies or giving his special love to strangers in the streets.

Larry’s life was one of a kind, and he may have had more fame than some sports stars, as he was characterised by billboards and his own merchandise, as Lee mentioned.

“He went from discarded underdog to having his face plastered across billboards, the United Center, ASPCA campaigns, Rolling Stone, and had more action figures, merchandise, and fan art than most pro athletes,” she added.

AJ Lee reflects on heartbreak and delivers a powerful adoption message

She went through her loss more than a month ago, but AJ Lee is honestly still experiencing it and during the whole time she has not felt complete because the turning point of her life has disappeared. Before she signed off, the previous Divas Champion recommended that people should not buy pets but instead adopt dogs from shelters, which is going to be the most rewarding thing that anybody will ever do in their lives.

“I am not okay, half my heart is gone. I get really quiet and private during the hard stuff but I wanted to come on here and say, if you need a best friend who will make every day brighter, who will save your life right back, please adopt don’t shop. Rescue dogs are a special kind of magic,” she concluded.
