In a shocking incident during India’s third ODI against New Zealand in Indore, India batting star Rohit Sharma was allegedly approached and grabbed by a woman while entering the team hotel. The unexpected move left the cricketer visibly surprised as security personnel quickly intervened. The video of the incident, which circulated widely on social media, has raised questions about player safety and hotel security arrangements during matches.
Woman Explains Her Desperate Plea for Help
The woman, identified as Sarita Sharma, later revealed that her actions were motivated by a desperate attempt to seek help for her seriously ill daughter, Anika. She claimed that Anika requires a life-saving injection that costs Rs 9 crore and must be imported from the United States. According to Sarita, her family has managed to raise Rs 4.1 crore through small donation drives, but the funds are insufficient, and time is running out.
“My daughter’s condition is critical, and we were hoping to reach out to Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli because they have been known to support children in need,” Sarita explained. “In a desperate attempt, I went to the hotel where Rohit Sharma was staying. Emotions got the better of me, and I grabbed his hand. I apologize for my actions.”
She emphasized that her intention was not to click selfies or disturb the cricketer but to save her child’s life. “I appeal to Virat sir and Rohit sir to understand that I was trying to save my child. I also apologize to the authorities for my actions and hope they can help,” she added.
