Suryakumar Yadav also came back to form and scored 57 runs off 26 balls. This is his back-to-back fifty as he has now shut down all the questions which kept looming around his form. Batting first, New Zealand scored 153 runs with only Glenn Philips as the top performer with 48 runs. India remained dominant with both bat and ball but one player who took the spotlight was Abhishek Sharma. He also missed his mentor Yuvraj Singh’s long standing record by just 2 balls.
Yuvraj Singh’s reaction
Yuvraj Singh scored a fifty in 12 balls while Abhishek scored in 14 following which the young batter reflected that “its impossible to break that record.” Yuvraj also praised Abhishek but took a playful jab as he posted on X.
“Still can’t get a 50 off 12 balls, can you? Well played – keep going strong!”
