Pakistan still planning to boycott T20 World Cup? Makes big statement against ICC, calls it…

Pakistan has unveiled squad for the T20 World Cup on Sunday but despite that the possibility of boycott remains looming. PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi clarified that announcing the team does not mean the participation is confirmed. The final decision will be taken by the government following a meeting with PCB officials on Monday.

According to a report by Geo News, the government is expected to boycott the tournament driven by dissatisfaction over what it views as the ICC’s “discriminatory treatment” of Bangladesh.

“The final decision rests with the prime minister, but early indications suggest that the government may not allow Pakistan to participate in the T20 World Cup,” a senior government source said. “This is not just about cricket; it is about principles. Bangladesh has been deprived of its legitimate right, and the ICC’s step-motherly treatment has forced Pakistan to seriously rethink its participation.”

“There cannot be dual standards in international sports. On one hand, India enjoys the liberty to choose venues, while on the other, countries like Bangladesh are denied venue changes despite citing security concerns. If the ICC truly wants cricket to thrive as a global sport, such selective policies must end,” the source added.

Bangladesh has officially replaced by Scotland, after ICC remained firm with their stance of not changing the venue. The BCB cited that there were security concerns in travelling to India and they want to play their matches in India. Despite all the meetings and emails, ICC clearly mentioned that moving the matches to Sri Lanka won’t be logistically possible.

Meanwhile, Samaa TV and other Pakistan media outlets reported that PCB is also weighing other measures if Pakistan does not take part in the tournament.
