THIS former Indian cricketer arrested for drunk driving, he played in…., name is…

Former India cricketer Jacob Martin found himself in serious trouble in the early hours of Tuesday after allegedly crashing his luxury SUV into three parked cars in Vadodara district while driving under the influence of alcohol, police officials said.

The incident took place around 2.30 am near Punit Nagar Society in the Akota area. According to officials at the Akota Police Station, Martin, 53, lost control of his MG Hector SUV due to intoxication and rammed into vehicles parked outside a house, causing significant damage. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.

Hours after the accident, Martin was taken into custody. Police confirmed that a case has been registered against the former cricketer under sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) related to rash driving and drunk driving, based on a complaint filed by the owner of the damaged cars. The vehicle involved in the incident has also been confiscated.

Martin, a former Baroda batsman, represented India in 10 One-Day Internationals during his international career and later captained the Baroda Ranji Trophy side. While he never quite cemented his place at the highest level, he remained a well-known figure in domestic cricket circles.

This, however, isn’t the first time Martin’s name has surfaced in a police case. In 2011, he was arrested by the Delhi Police on charges related to human trafficking, a case that had drawn widespread attention at the time.

The latest incident has once again put the spotlight on off-field discipline among former sportspersons. As the investigation continues, authorities are expected to take the case forward in line with legal procedures, while Martin’s arrest has sparked fresh debate around accountability and responsibility, regardless of sporting stature.
