Spain’s tennis player Carlos Alcaraz has created new history by winning the Australian Open. This is his first Australian Open title. In the final, he defeated the experienced Novak Djokovic, who was aiming for his 25th Grand Slam title. With this win, Alcaraz broke Don Budge’s 88-year-old record. Although this is his first Australian Open trophy, Alcaraz had already won six Grand Slam titles earlier. World No. 1 Carlos Alcaraz has become the youngest male player to win all four Grand Slam singles titles.
The Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz defeated Serbian Novak Djokovic 2-6, 6-2, 6-3, 7-5 to win his first Australian Open title, stopping Djokovic from winning his 25th Grand Slam.
This is Djokovic’s first loss in 11 Australian Open finals.
Alcaraz, the world No. 1, lost the first set as Djokovic pushed hard for the record 25th major, but Alcaraz came back strongly to claim his maiden Melbourne Park title on his first finals appearance.
The young star from Spain chased down every ball, returning shots that normally would have scored points against the older legend. Both athletes had just finished long, difficult matches in the previous round, yet they still showed incredible energy and strength for three hours as they fought to make history.
The Serbian champion was trying to win a record-breaking 25th major trophy, but younger opponents have stopped him lately. Although he beat one rival to reach this final, he fell just short of becoming the oldest male winner in modern tennis history because he couldn’t get past the talented Spaniard.
Both Djokovic and Carlos fought through difficult, five-set matches to reach the final. On Friday, Alcaraz defeated Alexander Zverev, who is ranked third. Meanwhile, Djokovic had a massive win over Jannik Sinner, the champion of the last two years, finishing his match very late Saturday morning.
