Microsoft To Remove Passwords For Sign In! New Changes And Sign In Method Revealed News24 –

No More Passwords, for more than One Billion Users worldwide. As per the recent news Microsoft has shared concerns as to how easily a password can be guessed or forgotten by a user. And hence they would remove the password feature from your account. The report came after Microsoft had already reported us of the new feature approaching last December by reporting that the password era is ending.

As per a recent report by Forbes, it has also been alleged that scammers and hackers are aware of the change, and hence online frauds have seen an upswept trend and acceleration in password-related attacks until the new change arrives. As per the report by Forbes, 7000 attacks occur on password-led accounts every second, the figure has almost doubled from last year.

What Would Replace The Password?

The Pass-key would be replaced by two-factor authentication linked to hardware devices or devices secured by biometric factors such as your fingerprint or your face. Unlike passwords, this would lead to a foolproof  system in which there are no changes of the password leaking or or being stolen. And beyond that, it would not face the challenges that the 2-factor authentication faces such as being bypassed or intercepted.

Microsoft has further delineated about how creating complicated passwords and remembering them is a hassle and how they plan to remove them completely. Further the passwords being unique to each website or an application increases hassles, as users have to remember specific passwords for specific websites. Pass keys are resistant to phishing attempts making them a much more secure option. This would help you use a unified passkey across all your websites and devices. So no user would have to worry about forgetting your passwords again.

New Sign Up Method

Further, It has been reported that Microsoft account users will see updated sign up users for web and Mobile apps. As per the word by Microsoft, signing in would only require the user to enter their E-mails. Once inside the users can create their own pass key’s. The update in the sign in logic would further make the pass key more secure and three times faster than the usual password operations.

Microsoft has further shared why adding passwords is not the fool-proof solution to the problem, as if a user has both the passkey as well as a password the user can gain access to an account, and hence it would still be at a risk for phishing.  Microsoft has been one of the first to acknowledge the password deletion as their go-to choice unlike various other providers who would soon follow the same route as well have not come forward to showcase their acceptance for the new change. Google has revealed that it would keep the password as a backup credential for accessing the account.
