‘One million users in an hour’—yes, you read that correctly. As Ghibli image creation has been going viral since last week, the AI bot ChatGPT has reached a significant milestone in this trend. According to ChatGPT CEO Sam Altman, the AI has gained one million users in an hour. He took to X to announce this achievement. This added to the one million that the chatbot recorded in five days.

“The ChatGPT launch 26 months ago was one of the craziest viral moments I’d ever seen, and we added one million users in five days. We added one million users in the last hour,” Sam Altman announced on X.

The CEO further stated that “image generation has now been rolled out to free users.”

Ghibli-Style Image Generator Now Available For Free Users

The Ghibli-style image generator, powered by OpenAI’s GPT-4o model, is a feature where users can create mind-blowing visuals inspired by Studio Ghibli’s iconic animation style. Initially, this was exclusive to paid subscribers only. But now as per the ChatGPT CEO Sam Altman’s post on X, the feature was rolled out to free-tier users on March 29. Users are converting their photos into playful, anime-style artworks, filling the internet with creative and nostalgic images.

On March 26, OpenAI rolled out the native image generation feature to all ChatGPT Plus, Pro, and Team users worldwide.  The introduction of Studio Ghibli-style image generation in ChatGPT has captivated users worldwide. The feature allows them to transform ordinary photos into enchanting visuals inspired by the iconic Japanese animation studio. OpenAI has now upgraded ChatGPT-4o with new image generation capabilities earlier last week. Its been dubbed “4o Image Generation”. Users can now generate images within ChatGPT using GPT-4o.

The internet is buzzing with studio-Ghibli-inspired images by ChatGPT which is in the beloved Japanese animation style. Students, homemakers, and professionals alike have started using these Ghibli images as their Instagram, Facebook, and WhatsApp DPs. Altman reshared the pictures posted by the government of India on X. In an AI-generated image, PM Modi can be seen holding the Indian flag. While other pictures recreate moments from his diplomatic meetings with US President Donald Trump and French President Emmanuel Macron.
