Mahindra KUV100 CNG BS6 Variant Spied Testing Ahead Of Launch
Mahindra is said to be working on updating their KUV100 micro-SUV CNG variant to achieve BS6 compliance. The Mahindra KUV100 has been spotted testing ahead of its expected launch this year in India.
Spy Images from Rushlane show that the KUV100 features CNG sticker on the rear windshield along with other testing stickers. Also, the test-mule is sans camouflaged, is running on steel wheels, and features non-body coloured door handles. The test-mule also appears to be a ‘Trip’ variant of the micro-SUV targeted at cab-aggregators.
We expect Mahindra to continue featuring the same mFalcon 1.2-litre petrol engine on the upcoming KUV100 CNG BS6 variant. The engine produces 82bhp and 115Nm of peak torque paired to a 5-speed manual transmission which sends power to the front wheels. Mahindra claims a mileage of 18.15 km/kg. We expect the power and mileage figures remain unchanged with the BS6 compliant model as well.

Mahindra introduced the KUV100 back in 2016. The micro-SUV and tall-riding design caught the attention of many buyers with the initial response being good. However, the sales started to falling within a few months. The company tried to gain some sales numbers with a facelift, which didn’t work as expected.
Mahindra sells the KUV100 with four powertrain options. This includes petrol, CNG, diesel and the recently launched electric option as well. The electric version, known as the eKUV100 or KUV100 electric was recently launched at Auto Expo 2020.
The Mahindra KUV100 is placed against newly launched or updated, and soon-to-be-launched rivals. This includes the Maruti Suzuki S-Presso, the Renault Kwid, the upcoming 2020 Datsun redi-GO, and the Tata HBX. We expect the KUV100 to feature major changes in order to compete against segment rivals.
In other news, we also expect a series of launches from the brand, starting with the next-gen Scorpio, and the Thar off-road SUV. Both models have been spotted testing many times on Indian streets with production-ready versions indicating that launch will happen soon.
