New (2020) Hyundai Creta: Top Things To Know About The Brand New Avatar Of The Iconic SUV

Hyundai Motors India has just launched the all-new Creta SUV in the country. The all-new Hyundai Creta SUV is offered with a starting price of Rs 9.99 lakh, ex-showroom (India). The new Creta SUV comes with a completely new design, host of new features and added equipment as well. The new Hyundai Creta was first showcased in the Indian market at the Auto Expo 2020. The new-generation iteration of the popular SUV takes its design inspiration from the brand’s global lineup, such as the Palisade SUV.

With the SUV now finally having arrived in the Indian market, the company has revealed all the details of the Creta. Here is a quick look at all the top things you should know about the latest-generation Hyundai Creta in the Indian market.

Hyundai Motors is yet to officially announce the exact top speed and acceleration figures of the new Creta SUV in the Indian market. However, considering the performance of its cousin, the Kia Seltos and its rivals, we can expect similar levels of performance as well. The new Hyundai Creta top speed is expected to be in the range of around 190km/h. In terms of acceleration, the new Creta should be able to sprint from 0 – 100km/h in around 11 seconds.

The new Hyundai Creta is offered with a choice of three engine options. This includes 1.5-litre petrol, 1.4-litre turbo-petrol and a 1.5-litre diesel unit. All three engines are compliant with the latest BS6 emission norms and have been borrowed from the SUVs cousin, the Kia Seltos. The three engines also produce the same power and torque figures as on the Kia Seltos. This translates to 115bhp and 144Nm of torque from the 1.5-litre petrol while the 1.5-litre diesel churns out 115bhp and 250Nm of torque. The turbocharged 1.4-litre petrol unit puts out a higher 140bhp and 242Nm of peak torque.

All three engines come mated to a six-speed manual gearbox as standard, apart for the turbo-petrol engine. Hyundai also offers all three engines with automatic transmission as well. This includes a 6-speed torque converter with the diesel, 5-speed iVT for the 1.5-litre petrol and a 7-DCT with the turbo-petrol unit.

The new Hyundai Creta comes with a fuel tank capacity of 50-litres across all trims and variants. Hyundai also announced that the new Creta offers segment-best mileage figures of 16.9km/l from the 1.5-litre petrol, 16.8km/l from the 1.4-litre turbo-petrol and 21.4km/l from the 1.5-litre diesel engine.

The new Hyundai Creta SUV is expected to offer a similar ground clearance of around 190mm as on its previous model. Boot space, however, is expected to have increased slightly to around 425-litres.

The new Hyundai Creta rides on a set of 17-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels for the higher-spec variants. The lower-spec models come with smaller 16-inch wheels with steel rims. The lower-spec models come with a tyre profile of 205/65 R16 while the higher-spec variants feature 215/60 R17 profiles all around. In terms of kerb weight, although Hyundai hasn’t officially announced the exact figures. We expect it to be between 1300 to 1400 kilograms.

The new Hyundai Creta is offered in a range of five variants: E, EX, S, SX and SX(O). Prices for the new Creta SUV start at Rs 9.99 lakh while the top-spec trim is offered with a price tag of Rs 17.20 lakh. All prices are ex-showroom (India).

The new Hyundai Creta is offered with a range of 10 colour choices. This includes multiple single-tone paint schemes and two dual-tone options, exclusively for the turbo trims. The standard paint schemes on the new Hyundai Creta include Typhoon Silver, Polar White, Red Mulberry, Galaxy Blue, Lava Orange, Phantom Black, Titan Grey & Deep Forest.
